Our lab and offices are located on the seventh floor of the historic Mellon Institute. The lab features a \u201cdirty section\u201d where high-concentration samples and neat standards are handled and a \u201cclean section\u201d where trace-level work is completed. We are currently under renovation to add a BSL II space, including another hood and mass spectrometer. This space will be primarily dedicated to work with biological samples.<\/p>\n

Our central instrument room houses an Agilent 6560 ion mobility quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometer (IM-QTOF-MS) and two interchangeable sample introduction systems \u2013 a liquid chromatography system with electrospray ionization (ESI) for traditional analysis of soluble organic contaminants and a gas chromatography system with atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) for analysis of neutral volatiles.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
